Four new Northrop Principals

We’re excited to announce the appointment of four new Northrop Principals (owners); Graham Coles, Jonathan Low, Robert Boland and Surekha Parajuli.

These appointments recognise their contribution and influence as leaders within Northrop and the industry, their passionate commitment to the success of our business, and the value they provide to our clients.

Graham Coles

Principal | Civil Manager | Brisbane

Graham joined Northrop in 2018 as the civil manager in Brisbane, having worked in South East Qld for more than 21 years. Graham’s technical and management expertise covers all manner of urban development, but his passion lies in finding solutions for development sites constrained by planning approvals and development costs. He understands his client’s vision and delivers cost-efficient outcomes while working with industry stakeholders to identify and manage project risks.

As the Brisbane civil manager, Graham has expanded the team from built-civil, into to a market leading land development team with clients and partners across a range of sectors. Having expertise in site due diligence and feasibility assessments, coupled with a deep under of the construction of civil land development projects, Graham has developed an end to end capability to deliver project success.

Graham is passionate about assisting his team to grow their individual capabilities, and in turn seeing the positive results on client experiences through an enthusiastic team offering a broad range of skills.

Jonathan Low

Principal | Structural Group Manager | Sydney

Jonathan began his career as an undergraduate engineer in Northrop’s internship program in 2007 and now manages a group of ten engineers in the Sydney Structural Group. He is passionate about the property and construction industry and brings that passion and enthusiasm to all his projects. 

Jonathan is committed to the development of future engineering talent, mentoring junior engineers and running our undergraduate and graduate program. As a young engineer he spent time on secondment in Christchurch following the 2010-2011 earthquakes, and he became a Chartered Engineer in 2016.  

Jonathan enjoys collaborating and contributing within project teams, working with architects, developers, and fast-paced builder led design & construct projects. He’s experienced in leading large complex projects including rapid build corrections facilities and green field schools.

Robert Boland

Principal | Senior Mechanical Engineer | Newcastle

Robert started work as a mechanical engineer for Northrop Building Services in Canberra, before joining Newcastle's mechanical section in 2010.

During this time, Robert has been designing heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for a range of multiuse commercial, education and residential jobs. His expertise extends into building energy, NABERS Energy and thermal comfort modelling, energy efficient and passive design techniques and building commissioning.  

Robert enjoys managing and coordinating all aspects of building services for commercial, educational, residential, and aged care projects, including overseeing the designs of external consultants. Clients benefit from his holistic perspective of projects, receiving valuable advice that contributes to better outcomes across all engineering disciplines.

Surekha Parajuli

Principal | Electrical Services Discipline Manager | Sydney

With over twenty years’ experience, Surekha joined Northrop in 2014 as a senior electrical engineer.

She leads the electrical section within the Sydney and Parramatta offices, and is responsible for managing a project delivery team of 21 people. For Surekha, recruiting, developing, and retaining the next generation of leaders has always been front of mind.

Surekha’s key strength is her ability to connect with people, understand their needs and support clients and colleagues alike in great project outcomes. She builds loyal client relationship through her reliability, availability, and ability to listen bring a client-side focus to the team.

Surekha has been instrumental in the development of Northrop’s AV/ICT and PV Solar consulting services. Her other focus areas include the seniors living sector, low voltage power systems and controls.
