BENG POSTGRAD DIPLOMA IN ILLUMINATION DESIGN
ASSOCIATE | SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

With over 35 years of industry experience, Ibby is a specialist in lighting design for building services and infrastructure. As a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society ANZ, Ibby enjoys being involved in sharing her knowledge, and developing art and science in lighting design.

Since joining Northrop in 2013, Ibby has worked on a number of prominent projects – including the ground access improvement of Sydney International Airport, where her passion for infrastructure upgrades was demonstrated with the complete revamp of the access road, entry and exit facilities, for this major transport hub.

Ibby’s approach is to envisage the outcome and strive for a lighting design solution that is visually appealing, sustainable and functional. Starting in engineering in the 1980s, she was usually the only female engineer and is now heartened to see the advancement of so many more women in the profession.  She is committed to sharing her passion for engineering by mentoring and developing upcoming engineers.

In 2022, to mark an incredible 35-year long career, Ibby was awarded with the Richard (Dick) Chappell Memorial Award. This award is given in recognition of the exceptional contribution to the lighting profession throughout a long and distinguished career.
