Bringelly Road Business Hub Stormwater Management Plan

The Trust embarked on a plan to generate income through the disposal of their surplus land at Leppington in South West Sydney. Northrop were engaged to engineer an approach to flooding control and design the stormwater and earthworks for the 9 super lot sub-division.

The need to achieve large level construction pads required very substantial works across the 20 Ha site. The rationalisation of the cut & fill works was compounded by the presence of unsuitable shallow soil layers, and required Northrop to test a range of options to arrive at an optimal solution.

Northrop identified an under-utilised water treatment wetland downstream for the site. We developed an approach by which this existing wetland could be utilised for on-site detention and stormwater quality control.  This initiative was incorporated into the subdivision and saved the project millions of dollars in saved land take that would otherwise have to be devoted to a treatment system.
