Goodwin Downer Retirement Living

Goodwin Downer Retirement Village resides in the sought-after suburb of Downer, offering high-quality independent units, communal facilities and an exclusive clubhouse.
The building design is inspired by the character of the local area with a proposed red brick finish reminiscent of Canberra residences in the 1960s and complementing adjoining developments.

Northrop were engaged from concept through to Tender Documentation for structural, electrical, mechanical and ESD engineering. All living units were deigned as standalone air conditioning systems incorporating energy recovery ventilators to provide tempered fresh air to all units including lobby areas. Common areas were served by VRV air conditioning systems which required considered acoustic treatment due to the proximity to residential areas.

With Northrop's effective multidisciplinary coordination, we were able to overcome challenges while also reflecting the clients request. All of this was undertaken and provided smooth design changes when requested prior to tender. This well thought out coordination between the Northrop teams, namely Electrical and Mechanical ensured that there was adequate client side thinking while also allowing for flexibility with the client, architect and other disciplines.

Goodwin Downer Retirement Village allowed Northrop to showcase its effective multidisciplinary approach maintain client side thinking while giving back to the local community.
