Moss Vale Cemetery
Wingecarribee Shire Council was planning a new cemetery facility which would expand its capacity to service the local area and community.
Northrop played a unique role in the project, providing lead consultant services, guiding architects and landscape architects to deliver the site design.
Our client had a strict project budget so we gave careful consideration to project costs and staging. We were also mindful that the site catered to various religious communities, so we used unique topography in the site layout to protect existing burial plots.
At times, we found we needed to reign in some of the creative visions of the architect and landscape architect if they didn’t match the project objectives or budget.
Overall, council liked our final design, which included an entrance statement from the main road, a ‘Pool of Reflection’ (water body) and amenities block. The proposed works ultimately exceeded the preliminary budget and additional capital works funding is being sought to deliver the project.
