Construction is now completed at the brand-new Sydney FC Sky Park – Centre of Excellence, marking a significant milestone in the club's growth. Located within Macquarie University Sports Fields, this state-of-the-art facility lays the cornerstone for the Sky Blues' future expansion and introduces world-class training amenities for Sydney FC's A-League Men, A-League Women, and Academy teams. Beyond that, Sky Park is set to house the Sydney FC Female Football Academy, which aims to revolutionise the talent development journey for aspiring young female athletes. This building unites all facets of Sydney FC for the first time in their history, creating a hub of excellence.

Northrop played a pivotal role in the project's realisation, providing civil and structural engineering services. We joined forces during the tender phase, crafting a competitive design that set the stage for our continued partnership with long-standing client, Buildcorp, throughout the construction phase.

The project was not without its unique challenges, particularly given the geotechnical intricacies of the site. One of the primary design hurdles involved the creation of a suspended slab on the ground level, while the upper floor boasted an architecturally striking clear span roof supported by eye-catching V-shaped columns. The efficient and innovative design of these elements was crucial to the project's ultimate success, a testament to our commitment to delivering exceptional solutions.

The civil design provided effective and economical drainage within the limited project footprint. Specifically, stormwater designs were provided which allowed for the construction and operation of stormwater infrastructure without compromising the safety of, or access to, the playing field.
