The largest fish market in the Southern Hemisphere is quickly taking shape in Pyrmont.
The Sydney Fish Market has reached an important milestone, currently installing the impressive timber roof. Our Structural team were treated to a site tour by Multiplex to see the product of our joint effort come together.
Timber was selected for its lightweight, strong and sustainable qualities, but engineering the structure came with its logistic challenges.
To ease road traffic, the 800 individual wooden segments, some weighing up to 20 tonnes, were delivered by barge and assembled to create the distinctive wave-shaped canopy that shelters the 200m long open market.
We’re looking forward to seeing the completed structure in 2025.
