ASICS Oceania Headquarters, Sydney Business Park, Marsden Park

Sportswear company ASICS identified the 256 hectare masterplanned Sydney Business Park as the perfect location for their new Oceania headquarters. Northrop, in conjunction with Sydney Business Park, helped facilitate development approval for this unique facility. Set over 56,000sqm, the site includes a 2-storey office space (complete with bespoke timber framing) and a 25,000sqm distribution warehouse. The new facility also includes a mini soccer field, basketball court and tennis courts - which will all be used to help showcase their sporting products. To ensure the site remained financially viable to ASICS, earthworks and retaining walls had to be optimised to minimise in-ground costs. Northrop also had to work with Transgrid to demonstrate the new facility could co-exist with major transmission powerlines at the centre of the site. To optimise the site usage, Northrop carefully balanced earthworks operations with finished surface levels such that appropriate clearances could be maintained to the transmission lines. Northrop’s approach and balancing of regulatory requirements with optimal design, streamlined approvals from Blacktown City Council and Transgrid, ensuring construction operations could commence ahead of programme.
