Inner City High School – Cleveland and Chalmers St, Surry Hills
Northrop are engaged to provide structural, civil, vertical transport, sustainability and façade consultant services on this 1200 student inner city high school.
The project involves a 14 storey tower over one half of the development comprising teaching and staff spaces, as well as a lower 5 level structure housing larger teaching and outdoor activity facilities.
This project provides many technical challenges for the design team relating to the large clear open span structures over sporting facilities, achieving the acoustic ratings in close proximity to major road infrastructure and vertical transport challenges relating to high-rise pedestrian traffic throughout the school.
