Mark Moran Vaucluse
The recently constructed Mark Moran Retirement and Aged Care Precinct in Vaucluse has seen increased pedestrian activity around the intersection of New South Head Road and Laguna Street. In order to improve accessibility and safety, a new pedestrian crossing, upgrades to the road pavement and blister islands were designed and constructed. As New South Head Road is an RMS operated roadway, Northrop was engaged as the construction project verifiers for the roadworks. Abandoned tram tracks directly under the asphalt proved to be higher than expected during the construction works which necessitated changes to the design. Our team had to remain agile and flexible in order to keep the project progressing. Site works and inspections were also all carried out at night to minimise the impact to traffic on the busy road. Construction was completed in mid-2020 with Northrop facilitating the best outcome for the project, client and RMS.
