Parliament House Control Systems Upgrade

This project saw the upgrade of an ageing control system at Parliament House. The client’s objective was to upgrade to an open system. The objective was to ensure that the completed system was not locked into a particular supplier to ensure that the project budget was protected.

The staging of the upgrade was particularly important as there was a significant potential for rework as the project progressed. Our design effectively reduced the risk of redundant spending so that the best value of the works could be achieved. As the existing building system is a proprietary system we were required to develop a design solution which allowed the existing system to communicate with new devices that bring the facility into its third decade.

Our work was adopted and included in in the Parliament House upgrade strategy. The client stakeholder meetings gave us the opportunity to collaborate with the end user and build in their expectations which allowed them to include our work in submissions for parliamentary approvals. Which obtain federal government funding to allow the ongoing upgrade of our Australian Parliament.
