South Village, Kirrawee
Formerly called the Kirrawee Brick Pit, South Village in Kirrawee is a mixed-use commercial/ residential development and public park. The existing site was characterised by a large water body - representing the earlier brick pit excavation area. The water body has had a strong influence on planning, environment, water management and construction strategies for the project.
Northrop was responsible for developing the water management strategy for the site. This was formulated to achieve a number of objectives including: no flooding impacts; rainwater supply for protected habitat, buildings and water features; and promoting water quality in runoff from the development. The final strategy works to maintain the interrelationship of these objectives - while offering an outcome that can be integrated and implemented into a high-profile / activated development.
Completed in 2018, South Village now comprises of 779 apartments spread over seven buildings of between five and 13 storeys. There is also 9,000sqm of public parkland!
