Celebrating Northrop women on International Women’s Day
On International Women’s Day, we’d like to take a moment to recognise some of the fabulous women we have here at Northrop, especially acknowledging some of the people that recently joined the Northrop family and those who have been promoted.
Trudy Myers – Sydney Structural Group ManagerWith a strong technical background strengthened by excellent leadership and communications skills, Trudy brings with her 15 years’ experience in the building and construction industry. Trudy has worked with a variety of building materials across a wide range of sectors, and has a passion for architecturally inspired structures.
Trudy joined Northrop in January 2021 and manages a team of five structural engineers. Her team works on numerous complex projects, from the preliminary design phase through to completion, with a focus on delivering economical and innovative solutions.
Outside of Northrop, you’ll find Trudy enjoying our beautiful beaches with her two little kids and husband.
Surekha Parajuli - Principal | Electrical Services Discipline ManagerWith over 22 years’ experience working in the Australian and New Zealand construction industry, Surekha joined Northrop in 2014. Surekha is the Electrical Services Discipline Manager in Sydney responsible for leading and managing 21 people, as well as the Parramatta Office, Building Services Leader.
Surekha was recenly recognised for her contribution to Northrop being appointed a Principal (owner) of the business. Her specialties include senior living, low voltage power systems and people management.
Surekha’s daughter aspires to succeed in the engineering industry, so Surekha works hard to be a role model, guiding not only her daughter but other aspiring engineers as they join the industry.
Elli Painter - Associate | Senior Structural DesignerElli commenced her career as a draftsperson in 2004, progressing within Northrop to her current position. She has been involved on large and small-scale-projects encompassing commercial, industrial, defence, transport and civil infrastructure, and works closely with architects and the design team to ensure a high standard of documentation.
Elli joined Northrop in 2016 and works as a senior designer for the Northrop structural team. She has extensive knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD and was recently appointed a Northrop Associate.
Outside of Northrop, Elli is a keen adventurer, travelling around to different parts of Australia with the family in tow.
Katie Malvaso – Associate | Melbourne Structural ManagerKatie brings with her 20 years’ experience as a structural engineer, delivering a range of design projects including hospitals, aged care, correctional facilities, retail and residential developments from concept to construction. Katie’s project management skills combined with solid technical experience in the design of post-tensioned and reinforced concrete, precast concrete, structural steel, masonry and timber buildings, enables Katie to effectively and efficiently lead project design teams.
Joining the Northrop family in October 2019, Katie leads our Melbourne structural team managing proposals, resourcing, tendering and overall project and commercial deliverables. She was appointed an Associate in 2020.
Outside of Northrop, Katie loves travelling with her family and indulging in her passion to cook sweets and pastries.
Bawani Ravindran - Learning & Development SpecialistBawani has been in learning and development for over 10 years and is passionate about helping people expand their skills and providing tools that will better their work and personal lives. She has worked across various industries including financial services, IT, engineering and retail within the L&D space.
Bawani joined Northrop in April 2020 and has since rolled out a whole calendar of learning opportunities for our people.
Bawani loves to travel and is regularly thinking about the next corner of the world to explore. She is also an avid yoga practitioner.
Juliet Liapis – Sydney Accounts ManagerJuliet is a qualified accountant with over 25 years’ experience in finance and finance management. She has worked for local and international organisations across a diverse set of industries including engineering, healthcare, travel, media and data insights.
Having joined Northrop in September 2020, Juliet is responsible for the Sydney region’s financial strategy, including risk minimisation plans and opportunity forecasting. Juliet provides high-level financial reporting and is also responsible for finance accounts management, finance systems and budgets to meet Northrop’s on going and growing needs.
Outside of Northrop, you’ll find Juliet catching up with family and friends, cooking up a storm, driving to nearby parts of country areas of NSW, or travelling (before COVID) and playing with her cuddly 52Kg Akita dog.
Jillian Carney - Corporate OperationsAn engaging, professional and results-driven manager, with over twenty years’ international experience, Jillian has worked for both not-for-profits and corporates. Jillian excels in business operations, strategy and implementation, project management, communications, client relations, policy, legislation and team leadership.
Joining Northrop in February 2021, Jillian works closely with Northrop’s COO delivering operational support to all of Northrop. Jillian is an exceptional juggler of multiple and competing priorities, with a strong customer service ethic.
Outside of Northrop, Jillian is a beach lover, swimmer and loves a good book and a great glass of wine.
