Miranda Swift

Trainee Civil Engineer

Miranda is currently studying a double degree to attain her Bachelor and Master of Civil Engineering at Charles Sturt University whilst working as Northrop’s youngest Cadet engineer in Newcastle.

Miranda’s strong ability to think innovatively has allowed her to significantly contribute to internal policy development and sustainable design solutions to push Northrop into Carbon Neutrality by 2030, holding a seat on the Habitat Climate Action committee.

Miranda has a strong background in rural Civil Design, stemmed from her time within the Central West. She now specialises in Civil design and drafting, working closely with Neil Petherbridge in developing and establishing Northrop’s first ever Cadetship program.

As an Engineers Australia scholar, Miranda has co-created a unique Women in Engineering mentoring program to attain, retain and sustain females within the industry. She holds a seat on both the Newcastle and Sydney WiE committee and works tirelessly to bring equal opportunity to regional areas.

Miranda has been working in the industry since the age of sixteen working as a structural draftswoman and has acted as an ambassador, mentor, and keynote speaker at numerous high schools across NSW.
