Bathers Way Public Domain and Promenade Works

Northrop undertook concept detailed design and construction supervision for over 5km of foreshore improvement works from Newcastle Surf Life Saving Club and Nobby’s Breakwall through King Edward Park and down to Merewether Ocean

The project incorporated a wide range of civil and structural design elements, encompassing, urban design for community foreshore and park and open space areas, road upgrade, site grading, stormwater drainage, retaining structures, cliff/slope and stabilisation.

These projects required close collaboration with The City of Newcastle officers and other design team members, whilst responding to a multitude of objectives for stakeholders and the community in order to provide a functional, durable and cost effective community asset.

This project has delivered a vastly improved pedestrian link along the Ocean and Harbourside with tens of thousands of pedestrians and cyclists traversing the picturesque seaside areas.
