Bucher Municipal, Sydney Business Park
Bucher Municipal manufactures truck-mounted council equipment which requires large spaces for vehicle fit-out and adaptation, truck body maintenance and warehousing facilities. The new facility, constructed at Sydney Business Park, required the installation of four 5t and two 10t cranes within the warehouse. In order to maximise the space available for the fit-out and maintenance of the trucks, the southern elevation had to be accessible to vehicles through all bays of the structure.
Our structural team was able to eliminate the low-level wall cross brace along the southern elevation of the warehouse whilst maintaining the tight deflection tolerances required for the operation of the cranes. The site is also located on the edge of a watercourse and alignment needed to be modified to avoid flooding of neighbouring properties - these works required close collaboration with additional engineering consultants who were responsible for other portions of the watercourse.
Northrop proactively led design outcomes that enabled innovative solutions to be achieved by all, as well as streamlined development approval from Blacktown City Council. The streamlined approval meant that the construction phase of this project commenced ahead of schedule.
