11 Gibbons Street, Redfern

11 Gibbons Street involved the construction of 160 social and affordable housing units (set over 18 storeys), parking and ground floor commercial space in the heart of Redfern. This development will provide housing for those most in need in the community and Northrop were engaged to provide multi-discipline engineering services to deliver this important project. Our team tackled a number of technical challenges including building near both Sydney Trains and Sydney Metro infrastructure, a curved loadbearing precast fa├žade, achieving an 8.1 star NatHERS rating, and designing the building services systems to achieve both the ambitious quality goals that the project team is known for, whilst keeping maintainability front of mind.  We’re proud to have been part of the team alongside SGCH, Lendlease and DKO Architecture to deliver this landmark project.
