BUPA Sutherland - Independent Living Units

BUPA has evolved its business model, expanding from traditional residential aged care facilities to the provision of Independent Living Units (ILUs). The project comprises 80 Independent Living Units housed in two buildings on top of a common, two level basement. Included in the development are a range of in-house facilities such as a pool, multi-purposes rooms and a café which are all contained on the ground floor.

We worked with project managers from PACT and the builders, Lipman, who managed the process particularly well, considering this accommodation venture was the first of its kind for BUPA.

With no benchmark for the build, we faced numerous challenges. However, our team took the initiative to guide the client across all disciplines. We then developed a brief, which required us to determine the best structural solution, communication systems and IT technology.

Northrop ran several independent workshops with the client to present our options and to help them decide the most suitable system for their project. After considering their needs, we devised a solution that exceeded the client’s expectations.
