Coffs Harbour Maritime Operations Centre
The NSW Government funded major improvements to the Coffs Harbour Marine Precinct, which services the harbour and local region by providing essential facilities for government, local and visiting vessels. The upgraded facility provides a central emergency, crisis and aquatic event control centre for the north coast, improved response times to incidents and emergencies and greater interaction with other marine agencies and the marine community.
The redevelopment of the Coffs Harbour Maritime Operations Centre formed a critical component of the larger project to update the facilities at the Coffs Harbour Marina precinct. Transport for NSW identified the need for a modern facility to accommodate the maritime operations centre at the site, and an existing building on the site was chosen for complete refurbishment.
The refurbished building now features modern office areas, a call centre, meeting rooms with video conferencing capabilities, a wellness room, and associated amenities. The project also included upgrades to the façade and structure of the building.
Incorporating modern technologies into an older building presented significant challenges that the project team had to collectively solve. Despite limitations in the base building, the project team worked tirelessly to ensure that the client's design requirements were met. The project was led by Northrop’s in-house design management team who seamlessly facilitated coordination among the large multi-discipline team, ensuring a coordinated design was delivered within expected programme timeframes.
Here is what our client had to say about us:
"TfNSW found Northrop to be responsive, collaborative, and thorough, which provided the Project Manager with confidence throughout the project. Detailed designs required minimal adjustments post-contract, and their collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Principal Architect and TfNSW departments, was appreciated.
Northrop's timely response to requests and thorough on-site inspections stood out during the construction phase. Their civil and structural teams played a pivotal role in resolving early challenges with the existing structure and having local expertise expedited the process. The project lead efficiently coordinated all aspects and maintained excellent communication with TfNSW, resulting in a seamless project delivery."
