Now in its fifth year, the partnership between Northrop, Snowy Hydro and
Manteena is transforming Cabramurra township. Our collaborative efforts are dedicated to rebuilding much of this alpine community, tackling unique challenges from past bushfires and harsh conditions. Together, we ensure that every aspect of the new development meets high standards for resilience, sustainability and community spirit, reinforcing Cabramurra’s enduring legacy in the face of adversity with lasting impact.
Project
Northrop delivered Structural and Civil Engineering expertise for Cabramurra’s reconstruction, working closely with key local stakeholders to support the town’s revival. Our dedicated team collaborated to address the unique alpine challenges, including bushfire risks and extreme weather conditions. This joint effort has been critical in establishing robust, sustainable infrastructure that honours the town’s heritage while providing a secure foundation for a modern, resilient community—driving tangible progress and community unity.
Delivery
Cabramurra’s transformation is well underway, with reconstruction efforts paving the way for a vibrant future. The 2020s vision for Cabramurra includes a modern, fit-for-purpose accommodation facility offering a range of housing options for Snowy Hydro staff and contractors. The first phase comprises 100 apartments, a new staff medical centre, and a purpose-built fire refuge, alongside vital transit and support buildings. Northrop’s Structural and Civil Engineering expertise has been pivotal in designing infrastructure that meets alpine safety standards, energy efficiency and bushfire resilience. Our innovative approach ensures the community is equipped to face future challenges, honouring Cabramurra’s rich heritage while embracing modern, sustainable living.
