Eastern Creek Quarter

Located within the Western Sydney Parklands, Eastern Creek Quarter (ECQ) comprises a neighbourhood and bulky goods centre on a 15.7 hectare site. ECQ is a greenfield retail precinct, located approximately 35km from the Sydney Central Business District on the Great Western Highway, between Rooty Hill Road South and the M7 Motorway.

The first stage included a neighbourhood convenience centre comprising a Woolworths supermarket and specialty stores, with subsequent stages including a large format retail, bulky goods and associated retail and services. Northrop was engaged to provide ECQ with sustainability consultancy to achieve the targeted 6 Star Green Star Design and As Built v1.1 rating, along with a focus on key sustainability initiatives, such as extensive solar photovoltaic system covering the roofs of the development, biophilic design framework throughout the site, exploration of natural ventilation for parts of the year to meet the thermal comfort requirements, as well as utilising innovative urban farming and food waste recycling integrated within the development.
