The Everleigh AFL Clubhouse project was delivered in partnership with Bedford Built and AFL Queensland, to create a new venue for football in Brisbane’s southwestern suburbs. Northrop worked alongside Mirvac, Ellivo Architects and Bedford Built to overcome site challenges and design a structure that would meet both functional and aesthetic goals, ensuring a lasting contribution to the local community.

The Everleigh AFL Clubhouse is a dynamic new community facility located in Greenbank Queensland. The project’s key challenges included managing difficult ground conditions and accommodating a complex roof design, particularly the large cantilevers and centerpiece in the green space. Northrop’s civil and structural engineering expertise ensured these challenges were addressed while maintaining the architectural vision
Delivery
Northrop delivered a sustainable and efficient structure for the Everleigh AFL Clubhouse, focusing on both technical engineering solutions and consulting expertise. The ground conditions posed significant challenges due to reactive soils, so Northrop designed slabs on ground that could handle the movement in accordance with Australian Standards. The roof design featured large cantilevers in two directions, which required detailed structural planning. Northrop worked closely with Mirvac, Ellivo Architects, and Bedford Built to coordinate efforts across disciplines, ensuring that both architectural intent and engineering requirements were met. Our proactive approach ensured deadlines were met while addressing the design challenges efficiently, contributing to a seamless construction process.
Impact
The new clubhouse provides a valuable community hub, fostering local engagement in Australian Rules football and enhancing community participation in Greenbank. By delivering a durable and sustainable structure, Northrop contributed to a facility that serves the local community for years to come.
