The USQ F Block refurbishment project saw the existing single storey civil engineering lab transform into a two-storey teaching space that showcases technology, testing, experimentation, and collaboration.
The 1,450 sqm extension involved adding another floor onto the existing building, a new breakout space with full height glass façade and robotics & automation labs.
Northrop worked with the engineering faculty to embed sensors into the new structure which allows them to monitor the building performance for strain, stress, and deflection under real-time loading conditions.
The project was completed in October 2021 in collaboration with the architect, DWP, to create a space that is the new home of USQ’s engineering innovation.
