Real Impact: Shaping Experiences in Buildings and Spaces

Specialist acoustic advice from data centres to theatres

Acoustics is a key focus in the planning stages of major construction projects, so it’s wise to partner with experienced consultants who know how to navigate the planning system, can achieve quick approvals, and have strong communication throughout the design and construction phases.

What do we love about acoustic design? How spaces sound has a huge impact on how people feel. Whether it’s a hospital – where our designs can improve patient wellbeing through creating calm environments, or schools – where distraction-free spaces can improve learning outcomes, acoustic performance makes a big difference.

We work closely with our Integrated Building services team to make sure we deliver a coordinated, integrated, and optimised design. For example, by collaborating with our mechanical engineers, we make sure that the acoustic requirements have been considered early in the mechanical design to produce quieter and energy efficient HVAC systems. Through workshops with our sustainability team, we develop acoustic comfort strategies that help them achieve their goals for the project.

Our enthusiasm to make an impact on the end users of the buildings and spaces we work on has led us to working across a range of projects from data centres through to residential homes. Our national team take a partnership approach to working with our clients across Australia, from planning stage through to construction and commissioning – we get it designed, approved, and done.

Working with Bella and Neil was a great experience. They take a collaborative approach to acoustic design and working closely with the project team to develop buildable solutions that meet the acoustic requirements. Their technical expertise and communication skills led to the successful delivery of multiple schools.

Primary Acoustic Services

Construction noise and vibration management

Through close collaboration with our structural engineering team, geotechnical consultants and contractors, we develop fit for purpose vibration criteria to prevent structural damage. We follow through on site, with monitoring plans developed to suit site-specific risks and requirements.

Acoustic planning approval reports

We know what approval authorities require, which helps you get on site faster. Our reports provide practical advice so you can actually build our recommendations.

3D building acoustic modelling

Utilising the latest 3D building acoustic modelling software, we create a 3D model of your building and model how the acoustics interact in your space. This has been critical in our designs for large spaces such as theaters, concert halls and pool halls to demonstrate the impact of architecture and finishes on acoustic results, often helping clients feel comfortable using less acoustic treatment and a cleaner aesthetic.

I enjoy working on a variety of projects that benefit the community, taking the time to understand the client and end-user needs for each project. It’s rewarding to see how our designs come together and make a difference in people’s everyday experiences.
