At Northrop, we’re committed to contributing to better health outcomes for our communities.
To date, from Tasmania to Townsville, we have contributed to over half a million square metres of enhanced or new clinical space.
Who do we work with and on what type of projects? We typically partner with private health providers and public health government departments to deliver a broad array of healthcare facilities, including medical clinics, complex brown field refurbishments, new hospitals, and specialist laboratories.
At Northrop, we provide highly specialised and technical healthcare services. Our structural engineering team provides a broad array of services including seismic analysis, vibration analysis for MRI, and other sensitive equipment. Our civil engineering team provides flooding and stormwater assessments, and our integrated buildings team specialise in other sector-specific services including medical gas, electrification, sustainability, high efficiency façade, and smoke and zone pressurisation.
We design cost efficient and considered columns and floor thickness to allow for future flexibility. We ask early questions about requirements for wet areas and vibration sensitivity.
Our experienced and multidisciplinary team offers well considered and fully integrated HVAC systems, electrical designs, and facades, minimising operational energy usage and subsequently cost.
Our teams help repurpose existing healthcare facilities to suit modern health technologies and current ways of working in hospitals. Our ability to repurpose structures is cost effective and minimises environmental impacts, compared to new builds.
We work with clinical services and site selection teams to masterplan new hospitals. Our early involvement in hospital planning encapsulates our fully integrated engineering disciplines and ensures a technically and financially efficient and seamless project.
Together, we create optimised environments where patients can heal, healthcare workers can be efficient, and advanced equipment can operate smoothly. I find it very rewarding designing infrastructure that promotes healthier communities for us all to live in.
