Dickson Interchange - 480 Northbourne Ave, Dickson ACT

We have recently completed a 5 Star Green Star rating for the Dickson Interchange project – a 6-storey office building occupied by the ACT Government. The design team incorporated a number of energy and environmental features into the design of the building to improve the building indoor air quality. A central atrium provides abundant daylight to all the floors (which are connected by a spiral staircase). We completed specialist modelling to determine the risk of internal glare affecting the workspaces and provided detailed design and management solutions to ensure occupant comfort. To reduce operational energy footprint, there is a 139.36 kw solar system installed on the upper and lower roof spaces. Green Star submission timeframes were a concern and we coordinated Green Star documentation needs with both BLOC (as the builder) and DOMA (as the owner) to ensure that things were closed out without significant delays. We also actively engaged with the GBCA to ensure that the assessment was proactively managed to speed up delivery of the ratings. Our client achieved their targeted rating and the ACT government has a building aligned to their current and future needs, that is able to achieve net zero emission in operation due to the incorporation of all electric systems and a future focussed central chilled water plant.
