Delivering value back to our local communities
We love working on projects in our own backyard that help bring people together. We also understand that funding for these projects is often challenging; whether it be through government grants, Council rates or community fundraising – every dollar counts. We are proud of being able to deliver as much value as possible back to the public through clever engineering and agility in our approach to design.
Designing public buildings, places and spaces is a collaborative endeavour. Our team provides the technical underpinning for the creative visions and designs by urbanists, architects and landscape architects.
We support a broad array of public domain and community projects including wave parks, skate parks, and pump tracks – and our team jump at the chance to work on them. At Northrop, we live and work in the communities we serve, so we appreciate and advocate for the value that this infrastructure can bring to enhancing lives – in particular through improving safety and inclusivity of our public spaces.
“Working with a reliable and savvy engineering team that was passionately invested in the delivery of our project was very reassuring. Northrop’s Engineers overcame the considerable challenges posed by a former landfill site. The result is a triumph that we are very proud of. And our customers - the community – are really enjoying the benefits of their diligent work”Damon Tudor(former) CEO, Urbnsurf
Our multiple engineering disciplines provide efficiencies that our clients value. We save time and effort by providing clients with a single point of contact and provide design and project management services for projects that are engineering-led.
We understand creative lead designers want to test approaches and ideas that push the boundaries of engineering. Our engineers are patient, flexible, and focus on maximising design intent. Clients consistently tell us they like our commitment to testing their ideas to find what is possible.
While we offer many engineering disciplines, projects often need external specialist skills. Our broad networks enable us to recommend or appoint a diverse range of trusted highly specialised subconsultants.
All community projects come with challenges and constraints. We’re well versed in navigating risk and offer clients an array of methods and measures to overcome them. Our experience in working with authorities is invaluable in obtaining approvals so your projects remain within program.
Projects in natural areas – such as National Parks – are our favourite challenges. Our Water and Environment team love to protect and design around rivers, creeks, wetlands and foreshores.
“I love forming and leading engineering teams to deliver projects for communities. Being an outdoorsy person, I am often in these places and spaces, so I know that value that they provide for wellbeing, and what we can do to make them robust, functional and resilient.”Mal BrownSenior Environmental Engineer
