Ali leads the Structural Division at Northrop, combining hands-on expertise as a Structural Engineer with a passion for leadership and people development. With a PhD in Structural Engineering, he’s actively shaping the industry's future while staying involved in the practical aspects of projects.

With over 20 years of experience, Ali has been at the forefront of structural innovation, notably delivering Australia’s first mass timber commercial office building, the award-winning International House at Barangaroo and more recently the timber roof for the new Sydney Fish Market.
A recognised expert in multi-storey engineered timber buildings, he has contributed to the industry through academic research, technical presentations and leadership roles. He is the past president of the Association of Consulting Structural Engineers (ACSE) and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Griffith University.
Ali’s approach extends beyond engineering. He designs purposefully, considering a building’s users, lifecycle, and environmental footprint.
