Oakhill College in Sydney’s north-west has plans for a new modern innovation hub. The new hub will house both Science and TAS faculties, offering students a state-of-the-art learning environment. Northrop have been engaged to provide structural (and timber design) engineering services for this exciting project.

Our team are currently exploring the use of a novel structural system for the floors – a timber/steel/concrete composite system that utilises the best material characteristics of each to create a self-supporting floor with long-span abilities. This novel hybrid construction methodology is also utilising Passivehaus principles. In combination, these initiatives will make the project a first of its kind in Australia.
