Matthew Pike
Matthew is a Principal Civil Engineer in Canberra, known for his hands-on leadership and deep technical expertise. Starting as a cadet with the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority, his early work laid the foundation for a career spanning major infrastructure and land development projects, including over 1,000km of gas pipelines across Australia.
Since joining Northrop in 2000, Matthew has led multidisciplinary teams through concept design, approvals and construction with a strong focus on collaboration and smooth delivery. He holds a Graduate Certificate of Management and completed the AICD Directors Course in 2023.
With strengths in stormwater, road design, traffic and land servicing, Matthew brings depth and responsiveness to every project. Off the clock, he’s often hiking remote trails, paddleboarding or recounting his family’s epic road trip around Australia.

Project Name: Icon Water Sewer Pump Station Upgrades 2024 – Downer Group.
Role/Contribution: Project Leader / Civil Design Lead.
Description: Design and Documentation of refurbishment works at two major pumps stations and two suburban pump station, including electrical, mechanical, civil and ventilation upgrades.
Project Name: Woden Bus Depot – Richard Crookes Construction.
Role/Contribution: Civil & Traffic Engineering Design Leader.
Description: Design and Documentation of new Bus Depot in Phillip ACT with facilities for a diesel and electric bus fleet, including drivers parking facilities, administration offices, workshop facilities, and storage shelter.
Project Name: Strathnairn School ECEC – Icon Co Pty Ltd.
Role/Contribution: Civil Engineering Design Leader.
