With 17 years of experience across the UK and Australia, Russ is passionate about sustainability and offers a unique blend of strategic insight and technical expertise to sustainable building design. Having worked on both client and consultant sides, he’s known for delivering innovative and pragmatic solutions that balance cost, performance and environmental impact.

Russ’s core strengths include sustainability strategy and design integration, green building certification including Green Star, NABERS, WELL and Living Building Challenge ratings. This experience extends to leading electrification and decarbonisation initiatives within the public and private sectors, transitioning assets towards net-zero carbon operations.

Russ also has expertise in applied design thinking to embed sustainability in early-stage planning, including precinct masterplans and concept design phases. He has worked across multiple sectors and gained significant experience in healthcare, aged care, commercial, mixed-use and residential settings.

Russ is a trusted leader in the push for net zero, helping shape resilient, future-focused places through every project lifecycle phase. As National Sustainability Section Manager, he leads Northrop’s team of over 20 sustainability specialists up and down Australia’s eastern seaboard, who deliver impactful outcomes for Northrop’s clients.
