Goulburn Performing Arts Centre

The Goulburn Performing Arts Centre comprises an adaptive reuse of existing McDermott Centre (Old town hall 1887-1990) where the original Town Hall forms part of the Front of House (including Cafe, offices, foyer etc) for a new modern state of the art 400 two-tiered seated perfomring arts centre complete with a comprehensive Back of House (including stage, fly towers, control rooms, follow spots, change rooms, green room, travelling offices etc).

Northrop were engaged to provide comprehensive Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic and Fire services engineering, including designs, value engineering and documentation working with the project architect as head consultant in close consultation with the Goulburn Mulwaree Council.

Based on experience in leading edge designs married with heritage and sustainability know how we were able to assist the client to realise their expectations whilst managing the many stakeholders on such a vital local community project. It was critical throughout to ensure that not only was the community outcome achievable but that it be enduring and flexible as the facility will become a future iconic heritage building in the heart of Australia's first inland city.
