This extensive redevelopment for a leading Eastern Sydney school represents a major investment in sports, arts and technical education. The project includes a new aquatic centre built beneath an existing rugby field, multipurpose halls, a performing arts centre and a chapel.
Northrop provided specialist electrical design services across all new facilities, including high-performance lighting, audiovisual systems and power distribution.
The completed facilities deliver an inspiring blend of architectural excellence and technical sophistication. With the design supporting both everyday teaching and elite competition, providing a world-class environment for students and staff.
The project shows how innovative service design can harmonise with ambitious architecture to achieve enduring educational value.
Constructing an underground aquatic facility beneath an active sports field posed significant spatial, acoustic and safety challenges. Coordinating lighting, electrical and AV systems within tight ceiling voids and architectural constraints required precise integration with structure and services.
The pool lighting needed to meet FINA standards for swimming and water polo competitions, while complementing the architecture’s clean lines and natural daylighting strategy. The performing arts centre required equally complex AV systems, including programmable lighting and advanced control interfaces.
Northrop designed bespoke electrical systems that supported the school’s vision for cutting-edge learning and sporting environments. The aquatic centre’s lighting design achieved FINA-standard illumination levels while minimising glare and maintenance requirements.
In collaboration with the architect and builder, our team modelled light distribution and reflection to ensure both performance and aesthetics. Electrical distribution systems were rationalised to optimise serviceability within limited plant areas.
For the performing arts and multipurpose halls, Northrop provided integrated audiovisual and control solutions compatible with modern digital platforms, enhancing functionality and flexibility.
