Partnership

We’ve collaborated with White + Dickson Architects for over 15 years, building a strong partnership based on trust and shared expertise. This long-standing relationship allowed us to provide seamless structural and civil engineering from the DA stage. Our experience designing beachfront homes, especially along Wamberal Beach, ensured tailored solutions for coastal erosion challenges, resulting in a smoother project journey and a successful outcome through efficient teamwork and mutual understanding.

Project

The luxury home consists of four stories, featuring two swimming pools and a spa. The primary challenge was designing the structure to withstand coastal erosion while managing the excavation needed for the lower-level garage. Additionally, we had to carefully plan the excavation to protect neighbouring properties, ensuring both structural integrity and safety throughout the process.

Delivery

The client’s goal was to create an extraordinary home on the Central Coast, setting a new benchmark for quality. With the architect granted nearly full creative freedom, the design team continually refined the house throughout construction to accommodate the client’s evolving ideas. In early 2020, a major storm hit the site shortly after construction began. During this event, we worked with the team to develop on the idea of cantilevering the structure further toward the beach, creating a flat platform that could later serve as a safe, landscaped area that the client would enjoy. From day one, we collaborated closely with geotechnical and coastal engineers to demonstrate to council that the building could withstand severe storms. This partnership led to a structural solution that would endure such impacts while ensuring the sand beneath the property could wash out during storms without compromising the home’s structural integrity. Our technical and consulting expertise helped address both the environmental and design challenges of the project.

Impact

The project provided the client with an exceptional home that set a new quality standard on the Central Coast. The innovative design, including cantilevering the structure toward the beach, improved both functionality and aesthetics. For the community, it became a symbol of elevated residential construction, sparking further potential investment in the area. Environmentally, we collaborated with coastal and geotechnical engineers to create a storm and erosion resistant structure, ensuring long-term sustainability and protecting the property’s structural integrity.
