Newcold Cold Logistics - Melbourne 2
To facilitate expansion into the Asia and Pacific region, European cold storage specialist NewCold commissioned a state-of-the-art cold storage warehouse in Truganina, Victoria. The facility is the first of its kind in Australia and features a fully automated 36-meter-high chilled storage warehouse with 6 double satellite and 4 single satellite stacker cranes on a 24,000 m2 footprint. The size and complexity of the project presented the structural design team with significant challenges - substantial 3D soil structural interactive modelling of the 350 thick base slab was required to satisfy the tight tilt requirements needed for the effective operation of the 30m high automated racking system. Another unique feature of the warehouse is that the storage area and loading docks are all at different temperatures to suit different products (+2°C, +8°C and+11°C). Northrop worked closely with our client, Hansen Yuncken, to deliver this innovative project for NewCold.
