St. John's College, University of Sydney

The architectural design was the subject of a limited design competition won by Altis Architects.  The design picks up on the existing Pyrmont sandstone buildings constructed in the 1880s under the supervision of Edmund Blackett, having been designed by William Wardell.  St John’s is one of the finest Gothic revival buildings in Sydney and predates St Mary’s cathedral also by Wardell.

Northrop invested significant time with Altis to fine tune the architectural detailing and to provide an efficient structural system.

The finished building is a well detailed modern building that is a handsome addition to the RPA Hospital precinct along Missenden Rd Camperdown.
