Wattamolla Beach Precinct and Amenities Building

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services undertook an upgrade of the existing picnic facilities and amenities infrastructure at the remote and popular Wattamolla Beach Visitor Precinct in the Royal National Park. The works included a new amenities building, a new 130 space car park, adjustment of the existing car park, stormwater infrastructure including Water Sensitive Urban Design best practices, pathways, BBQ and picnic facilities and re-grading.

Northrop worked closely with Context Landscape Design to provide civil, structural, electrical and hydraulic engineering advice all throughout the design and construction process. This coastal clifftop location meant designing around steep gradients, whilst maintaining batter extents so as not to cause excessive disruption to the natural bushland. The sandy nature of the site and the sensitivity of the receiving waters required careful consideration of the stormwater treatment methods.
