Westmead Hospital Operating Theatre Upgrades
Due to the new CASB building at the Westmead Hospital Redevelopment, the existing 8 operating theatres required upgrading and refurbishment to meet the latest standards and future-proof them for the next 15 years. Northrop provided services throughout design and construction to re-purpose the facility and construct the new operating facilities. Designing the upgrade to minimise disruption to existing services, we had to allow for staging of the construction services to ensure zone pressurisation and hygiene of the existing operating theatres (not under redevelopment) were not compromised. New medical gas stations, new air handling laminar flow, new UPS systems, AV and upgraded acoustics to ensure patient comfort were employed in the design for the upgraded rooms.
Having undertaken extensive due diligence and site investigations, Northrop utilised the expertise of the contractors and site maintenance staff to design the upgrade minimising interruption to patient care.
