Located on a landmark site in Sydney’s Kingscross, this 1960’s adaptive reuse project will see an iconic building converted into a modern luxury apartment building. The project included the addition of two extra storeys on top of existing and extending and adapting the tower plan to accommodate 104 apartments.

The 2.4 metre floor to floor heights and constructing over the Kingscross railway station posed significant engineering challenges. Our intensive early effort to understand the existing building structure, its engineering limitations and the constraints of the rail tunnels enabled us to provide real time advice to the client and architect as they sought to adapt the building design and maximise the project returns.

The building structure had to respond to the requirements of retrofitting the building services within the confines of the 1960’s structure.
