PROJECT

The completed Wallace International facility provides approximately 9,000sqm of warehouse space, 800sqm of office space and extensive heavy-duty hardstand. The site was also designed with future container hardstand in mind, providing flexibility for the facility as operational requirements evolve.

PARTNERSHIP

Northrop partnered with McNab and Port of Brisbane to deliver the structural and civil engineering for the Wallace International facility. With a tight construction program and complex ground conditions to navigate, the project called for a practical approach that kept the design moving without compromising performance.
Working closely with the project team and geotechnical engineers, we helped establish a solution that balanced ground movement, constructability, cost and program requirements.

DELIVERY

The site presented challenges around residual ground movement and the performance of the warehouse slab. Northrop drew on our experience in jointless fibre-reinforced slabs to develop a cost-effective solution that could accommodate the site’s conditions while supporting the project’s demanding program.

Following completion of the initial engineering documentation, Northrop was novated to McNab to finalise the design and provide engineering support through construction. This continuity helped maintain momentum from design through to delivery and allowed us to respond quickly as requirements evolved.

IMPACT

The completed facility provides Wallace International with a robust, functional logistics facility designed to support both current operations and future site requirements.

The Port of Brisbane’s first experience with the team at Northrop has been nothing short of exceptional. In good faith, Northrop committed to our critically tight project program and responded to evolving client requirements in a manner one would expect from a relationship forged over many years on numerous projects, not our first outing.
