Integrated Buildings

At Northrop, we understand how important good collaboration and coordination is to our clients. Even more important is the impact this approach can have on the sustainability and end user experience of our projects.

Northrop first offered Building Services in the 1990s, driven by our clients asking for a more holistic design approach. We’ve grown since then, with over 150 people now designing what we call ‘Integrated Buildings’ – which includes building services, façade, acoustic and sustainability consulting – to support our clients in delivering a full range of engineering services.

At its heart, the Integrated Buildings workstream is about delivering building systems that are better for occupants and the environment. Our drivers are ‘People, Performance and Resilience’ – reflecting our team’s drive to design with less waste, energy, and an optimised end user experience. Our heritage and remedial teams also sit in this workstream, working on complex upgrades and certification requirements to extend the life of existing buildings.

Pragmatic sustainability is what we’re all about. We understand the commercial realities of building development, but also the difference sustainable solutions can have on your operational expenditure, achievable rental rates and even funding opportunities. Having engineers and consultants sitting side-by-side that are designing building services and façade systems every day means sustainability isn’t just a bolt-on, it’s part of our DNA.

I aim to make working with Northrop a unique experience. By delivering a truly integrated design service, we go beyond being just a collection of disciplines — we become partners who unlock real value for our clients.
