Northrop is working with Allera, Nettletontribe and Alroe Constructions to deliver the structural and civil components of CABA Residences — a premium residential development in Cabarita Beach. Our team has been engaged from early design through to documentation and delivery, ensuring engineering solutions are aligned with the architectural vision while meeting technical, environmental and constructability standards across the site.
Project
CABA Residences is a luxury coastal apartment project comprising 20 high-end dwellings across four levels above a single-level basement. The development required engineering input to support open-plan, large-span living areas and rooftop communal zones, while navigating coastal site constraints and stringent flood planning requirements. Engineering design focused on balancing structural performance with buildability and ensuring long-term durability in a marine environment.
Delivery
Northrop provided structural, civil and façade engineering services for CABA Residences, working closely with the full consultant team from early concept through to documentation. Structurally, we collaborated with the geotechnical engineer to challenge the initial assumption of piling, instead developing an efficient high-level footing solution using strip and pad footings. This simplified the construction process, reduced cost, and accelerated the program. Our structural design also supported large, long-span open floor plates aligned with the project’s premium apartment layout. Civil services were integrated with hydraulic design to minimise clashes, streamline stormwater management, and optimise basement and external levels — adding clear value for the client. Our façade input ensured structural compatibility and buildability of key cladding elements, supporting the architectural vision while addressing coastal durability requirements.
