By leveraging our close relationship, we have been able to add significant value to the project and efficiently overcome challenges, ensuring high-quality results.
The development at 10 Bong Bong Street, Kiama, known as “The Kove”, is a mixed-use project designed to create both residential and commercial spaces. This three-story development plus basement includes 21 residential apartments and 3 commercial tenancies. The client’s primary goals were to create a modern, luxurious living environment that integrates seamlessly with Kiama’s coastal charm, provide high-quality commercial spaces to attract premium tenants, and ensure ample parking and amenities for convenience. Key challenges included managing construction activities in a busy area with adjacent properties, staying within the allocated budget while maintaining high standards, and navigating the approval process with local authorities. Despite these challenges, the project team delivered on the client’s vision across the commercial and residential apartments.
We delivered a comprehensive suite of engineering and consulting solutions for the development at 10 Bong Bong Street, Kiama. Our services included structural, civil, mechanical, hydraulic/fire, and electrical engineering, ensuring the development met the highest standards. We designed the basement with 48 car parking spaces, a loading bay, motorcycle and bicycle spaces. Collaborating with geotechnical engineers, we addressed the challenge of construction in a busy area with adjacent properties. Our proactive community consultation and regular updates helped mitigate concerns and foster positive relationships. We worked closely with local authorities to navigate the approval process efficiently. Our collaboration with DTA Architects and other stakeholders ensured seamless communication and problem-solving, allowing us to meet the client’s goals of creating a modern, luxurious living environment and high-quality commercial spaces. This approach helped us stay within budget and on schedule, delivering a project that exceeded the client’s expectations.
The development at “The Kove” had several notable community and sustainability outcomes. For DTA Architects, this project was significant as it showcased their ability to deliver a modern, luxurious development that aligns with Kiama’s coastal charm. It helped enhance their reputation and demonstrated their commitment to quality and sustainability.
“Personally, I feel this project is a testament to the positive impact thoughtful development can have on a community. It not only meets the immediate needs of residents and businesses but also contributes to the long-term sustainability and vibrancy of the area. It’s rewarding to see how our collaborative efforts have resulted in a development that benefits both the client and the community. Constructed on one of the best sites in Kiama fronting Surf Beach, the team were compelled to do the site justice and deliver a landmark development for the area. Attention to detail was key along with delivering quality outcomes,” said Matthew Hart, Principal, Structural Engineer, Northrop Consulting Engineers
