Partnership

Northrop partnered with Edmiston Jones to help deliver a thoughtful, community‑focused housing project in Bomaderry. Working side‑by‑side from the early stages, we combined practical engineering with a shared commitment to creating homes that feel safe, welcoming and connected. This partnership was built on open communication, trust and a genuine focus on the people who will live here, ensuring every decision supported comfort, dignity and long‑term community value.

Project

This affordable housing development delivers 39 well-designed apartments across two two-storey residential buildings, comprising a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom homes. The design was shaped through collaboration with the local community and project stakeholders, helping create a comfortable and inclusive living environment that responds to the needs of its residents. Thoughtful architecture, practical engineering, landscaping and shared outdoor areas create functional, durable spaces that support everyday living, connection and a strong sense of place.

Delivery

Northrop provided civil and structural engineering across all stages, working closely with Edmiston Jones and the wider team to align design intent with site conditions and delivery requirements. Our civil work covered site planning, servicing, stormwater management and grading to ensure the development operates smoothly. Structurally, we focused on efficient, buildable systems that balance durability, performance and value for money.

Clear communication and timely coordination were central to our approach. By offering practical advice as the design evolved, we supported well‑coordinated documentation and a straightforward construction process. The result is a development that’s technically sound, buildable and true to the project vision.

Impact

The impact of this project is seen in the homes and shared spaces created for residents, places designed for comfort, safety and a sense of belonging. By prioritising accessibility, connection and everyday usability, the development supports people in building stable lives within a strong community setting.

Beyond the immediate benefits, the project contributes long‑term social value by strengthening local housing supply and demonstrating what people‑centred, affordable housing can achieve in regional areas.
