Chevalier College, Burradoo

Chevalier College is a Catholic coeducational secondary school community governed and inspired by the vision and ethos of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. The College delivers technology subjects in specialist facilities to nurture generations of students.

Northrop were engaged to provide multi-disciplinary engineering services for the new multi-purpose hall, and additions/alterations to the existing Performing Arts Centre. The multi-purpose hall includes large open plan spaces with a mezzanine level on all sides overlooking from above. The full height louvered eastern façade allows light to spill into the main space and borders a large cantilevered space suspended from the roof above. The main court level accommodates >1000 retractable seats which neatly tuck under the mezzanine level to provide multi-use functionality.

The mechanical and electrical services have been designed in keeping with the clean architectural form throughout. Ground floor vents adjacent to the glazing wall provide a neat solution, along with LED high bay suspended luminaires with dimmable control gear to provide different moods suitable for multiple uses. Completed in 2019, the client is extremely happy with the result. Northrop are proud to have been involved in delivering a fantastic educational facility for the Chevalier community.
