Gungahlin Marketplace

The development of the Gungahlin Marketplace by AMISCO was intended to provide a range of shopping opportunities to the Gungahlin Town Centre.

The development of the facility started as a blank canvas with only a concept city plan as the background. As the project was delivered over four stages, efficient infrastructure design was paramount to reduce rework costs. Stages three and four include a tunnel under Hibberson Street for the bus interchange which has extreme time pressures for traffic control. Northrop developed a road closure methodology in conjunction with all the stakeholders.

Given the complexity required due to the work being undertaken in a live town centre the liaison with authorities had to include fire services, maintaining potable water supply, gas, communications and stormwater for flooding.

The construction of the current stage is underway with significant excavation undertaken adjacent to the existing supermarket which we have design the underpinning for. The project is on time and is meeting AMISCO’s budget expectations.
