The Locker Room, Sydney Olympic Park

Located adjacent to the ANZ stadium, The Locker Room is a four-storey event, dining and bar space in Sydney Olympic Park. Northrop provided electrical, hydraulic and structural engineering services and worked alongside Altis Architecture and our client, FDC Construction and Fitout. The hydraulic design included the draining of a faceted feature steel roof which required close coordination with the architect and structural steel design to adequately drain the roof without compromising the aesthetic created by the clean lines of the roof edges as viewed from Olympic Boulevard. The structural design also incorporated a number of unique elements including a cantilevered ‘scissor’ stair, and a feature architectural roof structure, with a large cantilever supported by steel cruciform columns. Thorough investigations were conducted by our electrical team early on in the project to gain an understanding of the extensive electrical and communications infrastructure network at Sydney Olympic Park, and to ensure integrated solutions could be achieved with all stakeholders. The demolition, earthworks and construction were all completed during large events held at Sydney Olympic Park.
