Northrop was engaged to provide road upgrades and a new pedestrian walkway surrounding the BD building at Macquarie University.
Our client sought a pedestrian-friendly environment with a featured landscaped walkway to link different areas of the campus.
The project required us to coordinate closely between Civil and Architectural aspects while providing functional and safe infrastructure. We also needed to ensure business operations continued as usual throughout the upgrade works, including vehicle and pedestrian access.
Our team showed its creativity using civil and structural elements to design elevated walkways and non-standard pavement finishes that were both visually pleasing and sympathetic to the surrounding areas
The client was pleased with the final layout. It maintained the integrity of the surrounding site and waterways, extended on an existing walkway and would become a striking feature of the University.
The project is due for completion in early 2018.
