Peninsula Village, Woy Woy

Northrop provided structural and civil engineering services for this 108 bed Residential Aged Care Facility from concept design prior to DA through to construction supervision.

A difficult design issue for this site was the presence of loose sands and a high water table that had the potential to cause significant issues for earthworks and foundation construction.  Northrop developed a foundation system for the building using screw piles to support column and wall loads that minimised the amount of earthworks and reduced the construction time compared to conventional bored or CFA piers.

We also worked closely with the architect throughout the design to incorporate thin load bearing concrete walls that worked in with the architect’s intricate room layout while reducing the suspended slab thicknesses, reinforcement quantity and foundation loads.
