St George Private Hospital Carpark
St George Private Hospital is one of Australia’s most modern hospitals and was in need of a new multi-storey car park as part of its 2016 refurbishment.
The builder needed to invoke efficiency and implement cost-saving construction initiatives, without comprising the overall objectives of the hospital.
Northrop attended workshops with the builder and architect, enabling us to design services for the immediate and future development of the site. The workshops also gave us the opportunity to promote open car-park principles; eliminating the need for mechanical ventilation and sprinkler installation – thereby reducing costs.
A sewer traversing the site also presented a constraint to construction. Northrop investigated options and engaged with Sydney Water to agree on a robust and cost-effective solution that involved retaining the existing sewer beneath the carpark footprint within a concrete encasing.
